Nairobi to Amboseli Day Trip Itinerary
Depart from Nairobi (Kenya Capital City) very early in the morning and drive to Amboseli National Park with the sun and red-orange hued sky of the African sky welcoming you to the new day as you reach the outskirts of the city. Along the way you will observe the daily lives of Kenyan people as well as soak in the beautiful landscape as we descend the high altitude Nairobi City to the slightly lower Machakos then to Makueni and finally into the semi-arid Masailand - Kajiado county, the home of Amboseli National Park. Arrive in park in mid morning, good time to enjoy safari game drive as the air is still cool and the animals are up and about.
Amboseli offers five unique habitats to explore - open dry plains, acacia wood land, rocky thorn bush country swamp and marshland – each a habitat hosting its own unique wildlife. The open plains are dominated by wildebeest, zebras and different kinds of antelopes, 'comb' the acacia woodlands in search of the giraffes feeding on the succulent leaves of the trees and scan the the swamps and marshland for huge congregations of elephants, hippos and different aquatic birds. In the palm fringed areas look out for lions lazing about or their cubs playing.
As you head towards your safari lodge for lunch make a point of scanning the trees and plains for birds of prey and mischievous baboons. Arrive at your Safari Camp/Lodge in time for a hearty buffet lunch and a short rest. Afternoon game drive looking out for more wild animals and birds, weather permitting enjoy views of Africa's highest mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro then drive back to Nairobi arriving late in the evening.

About Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most popular National Park because of the stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and other plains game are plentiful in the park. Here, elephants are surprisingly relaxed around safari vehicles and are a major attraction.

Getting There
Via mombasa - Nairobi Highway you brach off and take the Olitokitoki road and through a rough road you access Amboseli National Park via the Erimito and further South towards Olitokitok town, the Kimana Gate. Along the Nairobi/Arusha Road via Namanga, the park can be accessed through the Meshanani Gate. From tourists arriving by air Amboseli has an airstrip - the Empusel Gate.
